Defence Against the Dark Arts

Amanda walked in with Olivia and quietly mumbled to her, "Maybe being friends with you will make Snape nicer to me?" Amanda was trying to ditract Olivia from the fact Lin was sitting in this class.

"I doubt that..." Olivia didn't notice.

"... Shoot." Amanda sighed, "Where shall we sit?"

Lin loudly laughed with her mousy red head friend as they chatted about getting back at Rachel.

Kelsi appeared at the door of the class. "PSST!" she whispered at them, and knocked on the door.

Amanda turned. "What!?"

"Oh-hey-Kelsi."

"Class hasn't started, so I'm just poking in." And so, she poked in. "Hey, Liv, what happened? You like, totally ran off."

Amanda laughed a little, "You think you can dash quick enough when class starts?"

"Nah, Professor Sprout thinks I forgot my Herbology textbook. She thinks I'm running to my dorm and fishing through my suitcase for it."

Amanda laughed a little, then waited for Olivia to tell Kelsi what was up.

"Lin called me a lesbian."

Amanda glared at Lin's back as Olivia spoke.

"But, I don't care, cuz I know I'm not."

"That's right. She's probably one herself!"

"Oh, and I'm going out with a seventh year."

"Quiet class," said Professor Snape in his usually dark and evil tone. "Well," he looked around the class. "Looks like you made into my Defense Against The Dark Arts class... I think you'll find my own particular course work hard... I hope you prove me wrong...." he looked around the class. "I doubt you will."

Amanda almost said something very nasty at him when he said that.

Olivia had jumped into the nearest desk when Snape started talking.

"I want each of you to pair up. One of you'll well shoot a spell, and the other one must create a barrier..." he paused for a moment. "You must NOT say the incantation allowed for either of the spells. I will want silence in this room. Now pair up and begin."

Amanda grabbed Olivia's arm and whispered, "You shoot first." Then stepped a few yards away, wand at ready.

"I don't know how," she whispered.

Professor Snape was grading in-class essays from a previous class.

Amanda whispered back, "For Stupefy, just think it a LOT in your mind with your wand at ready, and aim at me."

Kelsi had cried out for Olivia, first in anger that Lin had done that, then in happiness when she said she was going out with some seventh year. but when Snape spoke up, she just disappeared off to class.
