Attic of the boathouse

"You predicted we'd get together in second year, maybe first, and that hasn't happened. And what was that last part? Didn't quite catch it."

"Yeah, me neither." Fry said coldly as he looked up from his facepalm.

Antonio and Eric were still laughing.

"Yes. Well, that doesn't mean it still won't come true. Aaaand, its none of your business what I said."

There was a quiet knock on the door.

"Oh crap, what if it's a teacher?" Antonio asked worriedly.


"Nah, I bet it's Karin. C'mon in, Karin!" Eric called.

Selia smiled towards the door, determined to make Karin feel welcome.

Karin walked in, smiling slightly, with a white hairband in her hair, and a white sundress with blue designs sewn into it.

She looked more innocent than she looked in a long time.

"Err, hi,"

"Hey Karin! What's up? I saved you a seat!" Selia scootched over, making room for Karin.

"Thanks alot!" she said sitting down next to her, smoothing out the wrinkles of the dress as she did so. "So, uh, how is everyone?"

"I'm doing really well, just got a makeover. I like your dress, it's so nice!"

"Thank you! I like your hair, too. Blonde hair suits you really well, too."

"Oh, thanks!" Selia was running out of compliments. "Um... Um... Your skin looks nice today!"

"...Thanks? And uh," she was running out of compliments too. "Your eyes look really... green today!"

"Thanks!" Selia totally ran out of fuel, and her shoulders slumped. "I don't have any more compliments, sorry..."

"Same here."

Fry joined Antonio and Eric in the snickering.

"How are you doing on homework, then, huh? I haven't talked with you in a while, I've missed you tons!"

"My homework? Oh, it's going alright. I should pick up the pace a little, but my studies are fine, generally."

"That's really good, I've been slipping a little in a couple classes, myself."

Karin then turned to the boys angrily. "Oh, what are you laughing at now, you dorks!?"

"Wow, this is awkward." Eric whispered.

"They're trying too hard," Antonio said under his breath.

"Hey.. Karin?"

"Yeah?"

"Can you be my best friend again? Holly, no offense, isn't quite the same. And, the boys are buttheads."

"Alright, I'll be your best friend again. Me and Holly don't really get along much anyway.)
