A dingy street in Amsterdam.

An hour or so later, the doorbell rang.

Serenity opened the door, putting a bright smile on her face. Why not be happy? It would be her last time. Well, until she got married.

Charlie stood before her, hands in his pockets, smirking down at her like he'd just taken first in a heated competition of some sort. "Evening."

Serenity's smile disappeared. "I know I'm not very bright, but am I thinking correctly? Or did you just come to visit randomly?" She sounded a little hopeful.

"Well, you see, I had this epiphany earlier..." He stepped past her into the small apartment. "I thought I could just go out there, kill the bastard who's had you on a leash, and be the hero of the day. So when I got there, I... well, it wasn't really a realization in that sense, but you know. I'd probably get a life in prison for that. So, I figured, since I was already down there, I might as well... pay for a night."

"That's really sweet, Charles. But Liv came. She's not taking me home yet, but she's staying with me, and she's going to help.. You- you say you had money? You're paying?" Serenity said, looking indecisive. "Well... It'll be odd. But fine."

His smirk disappeared. "You're not angry?"

"I am. A little. But I feel a little flattered, too. So.." Instead of saying let's get this over with, she decided to take a nicer approach. "Why don't we get started?" Serenity asked in a quiet voice. Angel can never, ever hear about this.

Charlie was a bit disappointed by the fact that she was willing, but... she was WILLING. "Why don't we?"

Olivia hadn't fallen asleep yet. She looked positively disgusted. "What the hell is he doing!? Son of a..."

Serenity seemed to be enjoying it way too much. Pretty late into it, she looked physically sick. "Charlie. This is disgusting. I'm in love with Angel, and I'm betraying him."

Ignored.

"CHUCK!" Serenity screamed, scooting away from him. "I DON'T LOVE YOU. THIS IS WRONG." She was still screaming, but she calmed down. "Just stop, okay? I don't care if you don't pay me."

Charlie stared across as her for a moment. The only sound was that of the ancient heating unit.

"Why?"

"I love Angel. That's why. I'm not in love with you. It's different with people I don't know, but you're only my friend."

"He's abandoned you, love, you should know that by now."

"Well, I can't just fall out of love with somebody. It doesn't work that way. Even if he has.. I'm sorry."

Whirrrrrrrrrr

Charlie sighed. Then he grabbed her by the wrists and pinned her against the wall. "I'm getting what I paid for."

"Well go get your money back!" Serenity said, trying to pull her wrists away. "I'm not interested."

"Tough luck."

"I said no. Please go away." Serenity said, glaring at him.

"No."

Serenity went downstairs, screaming after him. "I HATE YOU. I- I HATE YOU. I'M GOING TO PROSECUTE YOU AND YOU'RE GOING TO BE PUT IN JAIL!"

He was already gone.
