A staircase

Kelsi was running up here. She had somehow split up with Olivia.

"WAIT, KELSI!" called Rachel, who was running right behind Kelsi, trying to catch up with her.

Kelsi stopped. "Rachel?" She turned around and saw her friend. "You.. you okay? You look horrible. Were you crying?"

"Yeah... I was..." She then slowed her run to a walk. She began to talk again when she was on the same level as her. "Karin, my sister, she's dead." And she threw her arms around Kelsi, but she didn't cry. Rachel seemed to have run out of tears.

Kelsi's heart skipped a beat. "No..." she whispered. "No, no! Why?! No, that's not fair!"

"She was killed. It looked like someone stabbed her in the stomach, and she bled to death... and, and..." she couldn't bear to tell Kelsi the news about Fry's death.

"Stabbed?! WHAT?! What is this?!" She ran her fingers through her hair with a horrified expression and pressed her other hand against the stair railing. "This is Hell, this is what it is." Her eyes got wetter. "That's horrible..."

"And...and your brother is dead!" she exclaimed, without realizing the words coming out of her mouth. "By the killing curse!" It was NOW she realized what she had said, and Rachel couldn't but start to sob all over again.

Kelsi blinked. "What?" she whispered. Her teeth were clenched. "What did you say?" She felt goosebumps run down her arms and neck. It felt like she swallowed a stone- the stone stretched her throat, esophagus, and plopped into her stomach weighing down her insides.

"You-you heard... right?" she said in between sobs.

"YOU'RE LYING!" She screamed. "STOP IT! IT'S NOT FUNNY!"

"Why would you think I'm lying?!" she shouted back. "I'd NEVER lie about something like this!"

Kelsi shook her head. Her lips shook, and tears welled up in her eyes. "N-n-no!" she slapped her hands against her face and screamed into them.

Rachel softly walked over to Kelsi, and put a comforting arm around her.

"Actions speak louder than words."

She shook the arm off. "I can't just stay here and cry. Fry wouldn't like that. He'd punch me and say, 'Stupid, grow up. Life goes on.'." she wiped the tears off her face, but more came down. "Come on, let's go show those bastards who's the boss." She whipped out her wand. "I don't care anymore." But, she was still crying. She started going higher up the staircase, but stopped and screamed out. "Why do I keep crying?!"

"Because you're grieving!" exclaimed Rachel. "Kelsi, you're the closest person I've met that holds up to the 'best friend figure' status. I don't want you to hold all those feelings in. Just let them out..."

Kelsi turned around. "Life's a bitch, Rachel." she whispered. "No matter how much this will hurt me, I'm going to hold it all in. I'm going to be the bitch tonight. I'm going to defy life and death, and do what I have to do. I'm going to cheat in this game. For once, I'm going to win." she said in a wobbly voice. Her shoulders shook and she still had a hand hiding half of her face.

"...Fine then, do whatever you want. I'm not going to stop you. I'm tired of preventing people from doing stupid things. It's all their fault if they get killed." And she marched downstairs, and left Kelsi alone.

Kelsi sat on the staircase. Rachel may be right. Yes, she is. It's true. But.. Fry wouldn't agree. This is for him.

Rachel looked back up at Kelsi sadly.

"I'm sorry."

She looked. "It's fine. It's not your fault."

"I know... I just feel really bad."

She stood up. "Don't feel bad! In fact, let's go out together. We can show them that girls our age can do amazing things! Rachel, those people took your sister away. You can't just let them get away with it."

She thought about that for a minute, but she finally consented to it.

"Fine, I'm coming I'm coming!" she yelled quickly, running back up the stairs.

"Where are we heading?"

Kelsi shrugged. "I don't know. I just... I just want to go somewhere busy and help the others."
