The Yashnid Household

Jake was at home at last. Yay.

There was a sound of someone kicking the door three times, like a knock.

Jake's mom opened the door. "... Oh! Jake! Lady-friend!" she yelled.

Jake, though, appeared behind Selia. "Hi! What's up? You know, it's bad to kick the door and everything."

"Hands are full." Selia said- indeed, she had a box of brownies in her hand. It looked pretty heavy, as it was wooden. "It was the only container I could find- Can you please take it? It's heavy!"

He took it, and held it easily. "This isn't heavy! Wow, thank you, Selia! I owe you. Hmm... How about... umm... Do you like paper?"

"It's heavy! Well, I know who to call if I'm moving.." She mumbled. "And, paper? I guess I like it."

"Great! I'll go get you a card." And he ran and came back, a few minutes later with a paper folded in half with the words "Thank you" on it.

"Oh, thank you. But this isn't paper, it's a thank you card."

"Cards are made out of paper,"

"Well, I suppose you're right. So, what's a lady-friend?" Selia looked bemused. "I don't get it. That's what your mom called me.."

"A friend that's a lady of course! Or... a lady that's a friend. I don't know."

"That's sort of odd. Why isn't it just a friend? Oh, whatever. So how are you?"

"But you're not my friend!" Jake said this angrily.

"Um, that's a little offensive.." Selia said, raising her eyebrows. "I'm not your friend. That's not very nice."

"No! You're my serious-girlfriend. Because, a girlfriend isn't much, but when it's serious, you two kiss and everything." He said sincerely.

"Oh. Well, then, I've never heard that term used before, but it seems pretty accurate." What were Fry and Holly, then? She was just dying to ask, but kept her mouth shut.

"I think. Really, I don't know anymore. To be honest, when I think back, I think you asked to be my girlfriend. And I got it all confused."

"I never asked, I was figuring you were going to ask me, but you didn't. And then I left because my ears hurt, and this Death Eater tried to kill me, and I flipped him over, then came back and didn't see you since."

"YOU FLIPPED SOMEBODY?!" He hugged Selia. "That's awesome! You did it! You did it! FINALLY!"

"Yeah! It was great!" Selia laughed. "I mean, afterwards. It was sort of scary at first."

Jake hugged her and danced around.

Selia laughed even harder. "Jake, it's not like I won the Olympics! You're embarrassing me. Hey, do you want to go for ice cream later?"

"Yeah, there's a sorbet/gelato cafe in the square."

"Great! So..." Selia stared at him intently for about three minutes, barely blinking. "Are we going out?"

"Obviously! Didn't we just agree we were going out for ice cream?"
