A Flat in Diagon Alley

"Wait! What's going on tomorrow?!"

"I'm not sure! But knowing work, it'll definitely be a big day!" he called over his shoulder.

"...Well, okay. Goodnight."

A couple hours later, Rachel came home. "NIIICK!" she screamed excitedly. "Guess what?!"

A few minutes later, Nick burst through the doors, looking happy as could be. It was quite the comparison to the day before. "HONEYYYY! I'M HOME!" he called, running in, scooping up Rachel and swinging her around in a hug. "Rachel! Guess what happened today at work!"

"Oh!" Rachel giggled slightly, and she turned a little pink in the face. "I have news, too!-But you go first!"

"I got a promotion!" he sang, squeezing Rachel tightly. "I've got my own office now! And I've got a well-sized pay raise, on top of that!"

"Really?!" exclaimed Rachel, almost yelling. She then leaned over a planet a large kiss on his forehead. "Oh, this is so great!" she grinned at him. "You got it at the perfect time, too! It'll be easier to help pay for the new house, now!"

"You've got a new house already set up? Is it the same one you showed me last night?" He was still grinning. Hey, it was a nice house, and with the promotion, he could easily pay off a loan. Twenty-one acres is a lot to pay off, but if Rachel was happy, he was happy. And they would undoubtedly be having more kids, so the bigger the house, the better, right?

"Yeah it was..." she was smiling. "The couple was so nice Nick-but the money, 370,000 pounds!"

Nicolas suddenly looked a lot less happy. "R-Rachel! You never told me that! How could you make an agreement like that without me being there?!"

Rachel shrugged. "You didn't care last night! Besides Nick, in a couple years, we're going to be in the twenty-first century. A woman can make a decision like that without her man!"

"But that was last night! And we're married, we're supposed to be doing things together. If I'm the one bringing in the income, I'd like to know where all of it's going!"

"Ohhh..." Rachel looked a little sad. "I'm really sorry..."

Nicolas let out a long sigh. "No, it'll be fine... we'll be able to pay it off in a few years' time, I guess. But, now that we have it, we may as well move in as soon as we can, right?"

"Of course! We can move in anytime we want!"

"The sooner the better!" He grinned at her. "Then we can stop paying for this place. And it'd be harder on you if we move later, since you're... er, pregnant, again."

"Okay..." Rachel looked a bit happier. "Let's do it in a couple days!"

A brown owl flew into the window and onto the kitchen counter.

Dear Rachel, it read, in nice, clean handwriting.
This is Serenity. I've got a house now! I'm so happy. Looked you and Nick up in the dictionary- uh, owl post directory, sorry- and found you here. I'm living with, believe it or not, Elroy. See, we had sex in a dumpster then I got mauled by a Prius and I broke my arm, so he felt guilty and we asked his parents for a house and we got one. In case you maybe haven't heard, I was going through some pretty hard times. But, I'm better! This is my address, please, come over and have tea sometime. Sometime when Elroy is working.
