"Well, what should I do? Uhh..." He spun one finger around. "Wooo...?"

"Yes! Be happy! Please? Because right now you're just blah, about everything. We're in love. It's supposed to be happy and joy and yay!"

"It's just..." Elroy shook his head. "A lot on my mind, sorry. I'm happy, really!"

"Well, what's on your mind? Let's talk about it!"

"Work. That's all it is. They've just been loading it on lately." Not to mention this, now. Elroy didn't see himself fit to be a father, not in the least.

Even though he already was one. Huh.

"I'm sorry.. I shouldn't have told you today. Or this week, maybe."

"No, no! It's fine, it's great, everything's -- Great. Wonderful." He forced a smile. Why had Irene dumped him, then? Aside from the wizarding thing, of course. That wasn't enough, was it?

Serenity smiled, and hugged him tightly.

And Elroy returned the hug. "How long's it been?"

"A couple of weeks, maybe three, I think. It's hard to tell."

"Three... Aren't you supposed to wait a few months before saying anything?"

"No, I took the pregnancy test three weeks ago." She seemed concerned. "Did I jinx myself or something?!"

"No, I just heard there's a high chance of losing it in the first... thing."

Serenity started freaking out. "What? Oh my god! I'm going to lose it!"

"You might not, though! In which case, then, yeah."

Serenity started crying.

Elroy sighed. This wasn't an uncommon occurrence. "What do you want for dinner?"

"I'll have a grilled cheese.." She mumbled.

And so, man that he was, he got right to making her that sandwich.

"Thanks." Serenity said, sitting down on the couch.

"Sure, sure..."

"You're the best. Will you put some tomato on it? Or, or even better, tomato soup?"
