"Whatever. I'll be going. I'll come back tonight. My girlfriend's coming for dinner."

That's odd. Bore had never mentioned having a girlfriend before -- not that Olivia could remember anyhow. "What's for dinner?" she asked, laying down again and pulling the quilt back up.

"She said she'd bring everything, but she wants us to work on the dessert. Could you follow this recipe I set on the island in the kitchen? At least start it, I'll only be around an hour to two."

"'Kay." Yeah, right, sure.

so he left

And eventually Olivia went downstairs to check out what that recipe was or whatever, and being unable to understand a word of it, she went over to the couch and fell asleep again for a few more hours.

Boris came back. Alone. He had lied about the girlfriend thing... "Olivia?!"

"WHAT!" Olivia jolted upright again, opening her eyes partway. "What... who, oh... How was sledding?"

"Good. Did you even make the dessert?"

"I don't cook, you ought'a know that by now."

"You didn't even try! Wow, Olivia.. You know, you're probably the rudest person I've ever met. Grow up. You practically live here now, you should at least try to help around." he said scowling.

Olivia had grown used to the near-constant barrage of insults over the last year or so. "I'm amazed your face isn't stuck that way, Boris."

"You know, me too. Because of the fucking foul way you treat me, it's amazing it's not stuck. Because really, I'm so miserable right now. I try to help you and everything, but damnit, you just don't see a friend trying to help you when it's dancing naked in front of you."

"We're out of ginger, by the way; it would have been horribly bland even if I had tried to make it."

"You could have used something else..."

"Like what?" Olivia looked up at him from her seat on the couch -- same far out stare as always.

"Cinnamon! Damnit, Olivia, why do you always have to act so stupid!" He sighed. "I'm trying to act like your friend- always trying to find stuff for us to do, and you always push me away!"

"Oh, sliding down some hill on some wastebin lid in below-freezing weather is fun?"

"If you're dressed for it, yeah."

"I've never been."

"That's why you have a bad experience." Boris sat next to her on the couch. "Why do you never trust me or give me a chance?"

Olivia wanted to say something about how much Bore had been running his mouth as of late, but decided against it. So, she just shrugged.

Boris sighed. "Sometimes I just want to punch your face, but I can't do that..."

Olivia grimaced. "I'd like to punch myself sometimes, at that."

Boris's face softened. "Maybe you should try to open up more."
