Serenity showed the note to the Gargoyles, and they jumped aside to let her up. Looking at the stairs with a careful eye, she went up and knocked on his door, trying to look an appropriate mixture of humble and angry at the same time. Serenity bit her lip, readjusting her position on her bag nervously. In spite of her comforting thoughts to herself, she was still scared stiff.

[OH SO IT IS! ]

"Come in," called Dumbledore, who was sitting at his desk, doing whatever it is Dumbledores do when not on screen.

[I know what they do. ]

Serenity came in, approaching his desk.
"Um. . Hi, Professor, Professor Umbridge sent me here."

[Teehee ]

"Why might that be?" He set the quill down next to the ink.

"I told her I wasn't going to read the book anymore and that it was only worth wiping butt. I'd like to lodge a complaint- why is she here, anyways?"

"She was specially appointed by the Ministry of Magic to be your teacher. Miss Rosensteel, that is no way to speak to authority..."

"I know it isn't. But quite frankly, it's a waste of time walking in there anymore. And so she sentenced me to detention, Professor, and I asked her what if I wanted to leave, and she told me to come here for defying her."

He sighed. He didn't approve of the lessons, OR the method of punishment, either. But, alas, it was the Ministry... "You'll have to do detention for however long she says... Think before you act, Miss Rosensteel... Think before you act..."

"Thank you, Professor. I'm going to be lateee." Serenity turned around, running down the stairs and wishing she could transport to potions.

He picked up the quill again and kept writing. He really wanted a lemon drop...
