Flat in Hogsmeade

"That's true. But we have good jobs!" Selia froze and turned her head to stare at him. "Um, Jake.. Do you have a job?"

Jake stared back at her. "I was supposed to get a job?"

"Jake.. I'm going to bed, okay?" Selia said suddenly, getting up, leaving her plate, and going into the new bedroom as fast as she could, changing into pajamas. She wished she had bought that other bed. Am I crazy? Did I really expect him to work? This entire offer was easily turned against me. And now I'm stuck. I can't just tell him to get a job or go. We just got here. I'll just have to talk to him about it. Tomorrow.

Jake didn't go to bed. In fact, he had left the apartment for a while, then came back with tons of papers. He sat at the dining table and began to look through the papers with a studious look. He had a quill in his hand, and kept repeatedly tapping it against his head, then writing on each individual form.

Selia tried to sleep. She really did. But she ended up going back outside. "Okay, it's bothering me. I hate to nag, but.. What are you doing?"

"I'm signing up for jobs!"

"That's a lot of jobs you're signing up for. But, thanks." Selia kissed him on the cheek. "Umm.. Goodnight." She said awkwardly, then went to bed.

"But they're all full time! How am I supposed to do all of them!?"

"You're only supposed to pick one!" Selia said, rather loudly, since she wasn't in the same room.

"Really?!" Jake yelled back. "I get it now!" He lifted his arm and slid all of the papers off the table, leaving only one in front of him.

"So what are you picking?" Selia asked, not wanting to get out of bed.

"... I don't know!"

Suddenly, a Madonna song started blasting through the apartment. It was quickly shut off. "SORRY!" That was Selia, trying to set her alarm.

The next morning, Selia woke up at eight, to another Madonna song, and stared at the ceiling.

Jake entered the room with a tray with burnt eggs on toast. "Good morning!"

"Good morning. How'd you wake up before the alarm?" Selia asked, getting up and going into the bathroom. She didn't close the door- she was just brushing her teeth before breakfast.

"I didn't sleep!"

"MMmm mmmm?!" Selia spat out the toothpaste and went over to the new dresser, sorting through her clothes. "You didn't sleep? Why not?!"

"None of the jobs appeal to me. I'm going to have to try finding more flyers."

"How many jobs did you go through? Aren't you tired? And, thanks for making breakfast. It looks good."

"I'm exhausted! It's getting black at the corners of my vision."

"You need to go to sleep. But later today you need to tell your parents you're dropping out of school and living with your girlfriend who is also dropping out and also mention you don't have a job, will you? That'll please any parent. Alright, I need to get to work. Goodnight!" And she was off to Honeydukes.

"Good night? It's the morning!"

Of course, she had already apparated to work.

And, after work, at about six in the evening, she appeared back in the kitchen area. She didn't seem very happy. "Make your own damn dinner! I'm not hungry!"

Jake looked disappointed. "I guess... But, Selia, could you come with me when I confront my parents? I'm kind of scared."

She opened her mouth to scream, but sighed. "Fine. Let's go. I can't believe you haven't done it, yet."
