Serenity's Mom's house.

Suddenly, it began to rain. Faraway red and white lights were suddenly seen, and the faint sound of the police and ambulances were heard. The rain hit the road like bullets, and actually felt painful on Kelsi's burnt shoulders. But at the same time, each hit numbed her a bit, causing her brain to clear up a bit and watch a trail of blood began running down the road. The rusty stench was washed away and soon the sound of wet dirt and plantation took over. This cleared her thoughts a bit, and immediately pressed her hands against the mother's broken neck to search for a pulse. All she felt was cold, wet skin that was felt rubbery and boneless. She couldn't say anything.

"I'm going to be sick.." Serenity ran up to the upstairs bathroom, not having any desire to see the police or ambulance people-whatever the hell they were called- at the moment. And so, she burst into the bathroom, sobbing.

Kelsi stood up. The ambulances and police cars stopped. Several men rushed to the crashed car- which had slide off the road and smashed into a tree after hitting Serenity's mom. They began processing in opening the car's doors- which were all jammed shut.

Another group of men ran to Kelsi and the mom, and began asking her questions.
"I- I- no, I'm not the owner of this house. I was with my friend, and her mom came downstairs and--"

"Where is the owner? We need to see her right now."

"... Yes, sir."

Kelsi ran in and called for Serenity in a shaking voice. She made her way to Olivia slowly.

Serenity's head appeared in the door, still in her clothes from the party, eyes huge and frightened. "Why do they need me..?"

For the time they were gone, she just stared at the small green LED light on one of the buttons. The small green light burned into her eyesight like a camera flash. She wondered why it seemed so bright -- though dim, compared to a properly executed Lumos spell. And, seeing how small it was, it wouldn't light the whole kitchen if the lights were off. Maybe a few spherical inches around the source of the light, but not the entire room. If it was bigger, like the size of the entire phone itself, it would serve as a light source. Then again, if it was the size of the entire phone, Olivia would have been blind from staring at it so long in wonder like this...

Serenity turned to Olivia. "Liv, get Elroy down here and tell him what happened, alright, and just, make sure he stays here, alright? He'll-" She choked a little on a laugh. "His macaroni mask will make me-everyone- smile. Now, sir, what do you want?"

"Since you're the oldest, you technically are the 'owner' for now." Kelsi replied.


The man proceeded in asking her questions, like what she was doing, what happened exactly, and how this happened.

"My sister and I... Can still live here, right?" Serenity tried not to look past him and into the driveway. The poor girl had seen more than her share of dead bodies.

Olivia looked at Kelsi. "You have a little... green dot... on your forehead... I think he left...?"

Serenity shook her head and went back upstairs.

Kelsi rubbed her fingers hard on her forehead. "I do?"

"Now it's on your hand."

Kelsi looked at her hands, then palms. "...Liv, stop staring at the phone." She put it down.

"Serenity's mom got hit by a car."

"... She's not alive. I found no pulse... I can't tell Serenity- I just can't. But I don't want her to hear it from the hospital."

"Serenity's mom is dead."

Kelsi bit her lip. "Can you stop saying that?"

"It's true, though, isn't it?"

"...It's making the matter worse, though..."

"This probably just ruined the entire summer... Thanks for letting me stay over for that time. I'm going home." She walked out of the kitchen and into the fireplace. After the standard Floo procedure.

"... I should get home too..." Kelsi stopped in front of the fireplace, though. Serenity would need her. She's in a wreck. And, even worse, Selia doesn't even know. She'll need help breaking the news.

Serenity wiped off her face, trying to clean off the makeup.

Kelsi strode to Serenity. "They took the body in. They're going to clean it. Serenity... I found- no pulse, I'm so sorry."

"It's okay," Serenity said, mostly trying to convince herself. "It's okay. I still have Selia. And, when he hears, Dad. It's okay.."

"You're so tough, Sere. If it were me, well... I don't know if I'd ever be the same." Kelsi hugged her friend.
