"I'd like that! Or, if she does show up, I can just put her with your partner!"

"Oh, I don't really have a partner anymore in this class, he left last term. Professor Slughorn would usually partner me up with somebody who's partner didn't show up, or I'd have to work with him... Which isn't that fun."

"I'll be your official new partner!" she stuck her hand out, grinning.

"Really?!" He said this enthusiastically.

"Of course! Now shake my hand before I change my mind."

"O-oh! Okay!" And he took her hand. And he was slightly annoyed that his hand was the same size as hers. So after a quick shake, he pulled it away so she wouldn't notice.

Hers was slightly smaller. She didn't seem to care. "Great! That's settled!"

"Awesome! Your partner won't mind?"

"No. She always thought I was annoying anyway. Lots of people do!"

"But you're not! You're funny, and you talk a lot!"

"Thank you! But I think they said it was annoying how much I talked... I don't know, I just don't like those weird awkward silences!"

"I dislike them too. They're so... so..." He couldn't find a proper word for this, since his mind was racing. He was talking with her, and the two were partners now! So he didn't really know what to say.

"... awkward?" she suggested, and laughed. "They're too awkward to even describe, huh?"

"Yeah! Exactly. They are!" he began to laugh also.

Selia was standing outside the Potions classroom, looking a bit angry. Karin hated him earlier, why is she back to hugging him?

Karin came down to the dungeons, not saying a word.

"Karin! I don't want to confront you or anything," Selia said, going over to her. "But, I'm worried about you. It seemed like you made up with Antonio. Earlier, you were really, really torn up about whatever he said to you, and I don't think he's sincerely sorry, because he's cruel to everyone. You're just in his good books. Please, trust me, Karin. I've already been through this- as soon as you're not useful to him anymore, he snaps at you and then it gets worse and worse until you're left without a boyfriend and a deep fear of being rejected." Selia said quickly.

Karin turned to Selia, and sighed. "Selia, you're a nice girl. But the thing is, your only hobby that you seem to have in your life is nosing into other people's business. Why not find a new one?" she offered.

"I'm not nosing into your business, Karin. I've actually stayed out of it for a long time, but now that you're actually being sort of nice to me right now, I'm just worried about you. And if you're looking for someone to nose into your business, talk to Jake. He just watched me make out with my boyfriend. Can you believe that?" Selia said, trying to change the subject.

"Jake is strange though. Very very strange."

"Yeah, I know." Selia said, smiling a little. "To tell you the truth, I used to have a crush on him. But he thinks it's better to just be friends, so I decided to date Malcom, and it's turning out well. Karin.. Will you tell me the truth? Do you still really like Antonio?"

"I'm not sure... we change the subject?" she asked. "I'm tired of talking about boys."

"Alright." Selia said, seeming to be perfectly happy with that suggestion. "What's your favorite subject?"

"Er, I don't know if I really have a favorite. But I like Arthimancy."

"Oh, yeah, that seems fun. I really like Charms. Nowadays, Professor Flitwick is so nice and it's an easy class."
