"Well then there's no optimal time. We should go after Christmas. We're going to be rebels.."

"No, we're going to live our lives and succeed."

"That works too. This is going to be nice.." Selia smiled.

"YEAH!" Jake grinned proudly. "This is going to rock."

"It's going to be great. One last thing, though. When I test out new sweets, you have to try them. There's no other option."

"Got it!"

"Great." Selia leaned a little closer and kissed him.

But Jake started to grin during the kiss. He always did that. He began to laugh, and went to join his family by taking her hand and pulling her with him.

"You always start laughing! It ruins it," Selia teased in between talking to his family members.

He chose to ignore that, and so they all celebrated Christmas yaay.

Jake knocked on the door awkwardly.

His mom opened the door, and sighed. "THERE YOU ARE! Oh my God, I was so scared, and you've been gone.. Where did you go?!"

"Err, mom, we need to talk."

Selia looked immensely guilty. She should've called, just to tell them he was okay.. But she went inside too, looking sick.

"Mom, I'm dropping out of school. Selia and I found an apartment, and she's got a job, and I've got a job, and we've got money, and we're just going to try it out! Trust me, it's going to work. It's not too bad, too."

His mom nodded sadly. "Well, if it's what you want... there's no way I can stop you. But I have to tell you- I'm extremely disappointed. I mean, you just had one year left!"

"It's not like we couldn't finish school. We just don't need to." Selia added helpfully, from behind Jake. She was a coward.

Jake nodded. "We've got it set, Mom. Seriously. We'll make it. I mean, Selia's going to own a bakery!"

"It's going to be beautiful. With yellow and pink stripes on the awnings."

The mother smiled. "I suppose it'll work out. I'll be the first customer! That's all you have to promise me."

Jake grinned. "Of course! We can do that."

"What about kids..."

"No worries, mom. We've got that under control. We've agreed not to get any for QUITE a while. Plus, we've never even done it once!"

"Yeah! We've never had sexual relations. Ever." Selia put in. "I mean, I haven't even thought about it. Except.. But still! We're doing this dropping out thing right. On the straight and narrow."

His mom stared at her. She knew she was lying, but she didn't say anything. She was alright with whatever her son did as long as she saw some good out of it. "Alright... well, if you say so. I'll tell your father about this soon enough. He's out on some trip to Japan though... ah... Your grandfather. What will we do about him?"

"Err... The worst he will do is hit me with his cane, but I'll get over it.."

"Your grandpa scares me.." Selia mumbled, looking down.

"He scares me too." Jake groaned.

"Oh, relax, you two. You'll tell him yourself, though, Jake." His mom looked at him expectantly and stood up, to leave.

"Yeah, Jake, that's your job. Why don't you go and tell him and I'll wait here, where it's safe?"

"It's past the holidays, he's back in Japan." Jake said with a faint grin. "Let's just go back home, okay? We could pick something up for dinner on the way!"

"Right. I feel slightly safer. But not entirely.." Selia joked. "Ooh, we should get Pizza Hut."

Jake frowned. "What's that?" he asked, being a wizard.
