Outskirts Of Appleby, North Lincolnshire

"Hmph!" And plopped down on the ground by Nick, snatched Logan up in her arms, and began to stroke him.

"Hey!" Nick snapped playfully, "I was playing with him!" He looked up and noticed that that one stupid girl was gone. He'd learned how to easily block out his surroundings. What was her name, again... "Where'd that girl go?"

"I scared her off while defending you. Did you miss that entire speech?!" she exclaimed.

"Defending me? Speech? What?" Nicolas stared at Rachel like she was crazy. "What are you talking about?"

Rachel took a deep breath. "Well, me and Olivia were talking with each other, and she thinks that you look like a fourteen year old, and I said..." Rachel explained the whole, including repeating the entire speech.

"...And that's about it." she finished.

"Oh, Rachel." He reached over and gave her a squeeze. "You're the best."

Rachel beamed. "Well, everything I said was true. I just had to restate it."

Nicolas stood up. Suddenly, out of nowhere, an idea came to him. It came from Rachel's rant--his parents. His sister. He hadn't been able to try and find them since most of his time had been devoted to work, and the rest to his own family. He may as well tell them they had grandchildren now.

"Hey, Rachel, I'll be back in a little while. I have something I need to do."

With that, he donned his traveling cloak and Apparated away.

Rachel jumped up "Wait!-" But it was too late.

When Nicolas had Apparated back home, he wasn't entirely sure what to say. He sat down on the couch, slouched over and buried his face in his hands. All of this had to process before he relayed it to his wife.

Nick was about to run in to check on him, but he looked so shell shocked, that she decided to wait to talk to him.

About twenty minutes later, she quietly came in, and sat down next to him.

"Nick... what happened?" she asked gently.

"My mum got fat," was the first thing Nicolas told her. Then he proceeded to tell her the rest of the conversation.

Rachel was shocked for a few minutes. She then came to a realization that Nick was basically an orphan. Rachel reached over, and wrapped her arms around him in an embrace.

"Oh Nick..." she whispered. "I don't know what to say."

Nicolas shrugged her arms away, and stood back up, pacing. "I'm worried about Katherine. We need to go find her, it's been snowing outside. It's too cold."

Rachel stood up and side. "You're absolutely right. You can't just leave your sister out there. But where are we supposed to work?! We can't scour the country an entire night! And where are we supposed to begin?"

"We can start around that neighborhood," Nicolas reasoned. "There's a bridge just a mile or so away, she might be hiding under there. Do homeless people hide under bridges?"

"Sometimes." Rachel ran over to the closest to grab Nick's coat for him. "Why don't you start looking around town and in the neighborhood? I'll start making calls and sending out letters."

Nick put his coat back on, and took Rachel's hands in his. "No, don't do that. It'll be faster if we both go. Come with me, please?"

Rachel sighed. "Okay, I'll go with you." she agreed, and she went over to the closest again to put on her coat. "You're the leader though!"

As soon as all of three of them got home, Rachel went right to work cooking something for Kathy.

"Nick, go use some of my clothes for Kathy." she said quickly, as she was slicing up some vegetables.

Nicolas took Katherine upstairs, and led her to the bathroom. "Take a nice, hot bath," he told her, getting her a couple of towels. "Mine and Rachel's room are right next door, on the left side of the hall." He shut the door gently, and went downstairs where Rachel was cooking.

The chopped vegetables and meat laid aside as Rachel was cracking a couple of eggs into a bowl, and than beating them with a folk, while adding salt and other herbs to it. A pot of soup was boiling meanwhile on the stove.

"How is she doing?" she asked, not taking her eyes off her work.

"I don't know. She's taking a shower right now."

"Oh..." Rachel reached down and pulled out a frying pan, and piece of butter, and began to spread it over the pan on the stove. "I hope she's not allergic to eggs or anything."

"She isn't. I don't think she's really allergic to anything, 'cept blueberries."
