Serenity's Mom's house.

"OH SURE. ELROY TOOK THE FREAKIN' BOAT, YOU KNOW!"

"Alright, you can come squee with me. Come on."
She stuck her head out the security room, an inconspicuous door right outside the club room, grinning at Olivia.
Serenity was in a small closet-sized room filled with TV monitors, all playing the same video feed. The ten minutes when Angel had arrived, stayed, skip past the power outage, and the two minutes until he had left.
It was on loop, so the entire thing played over and over, including audio.

"I don't wanna look at my brother wearing an eva suit."

"IT'S SO CUTE."
And so, sleeping and next day commences.

Regina Rosensteel sat in the living room, under the close watching of her mother- who was sipping out of a large glass of what seemed to be purely alcohol.

Serenity had locked her mother in the attic, and locked herself in her own room, but was scared to death that the crazy lady would find her way out. So, Serenity was crouched in the closet, holding her head in her hands.

Serenity was pouting.

That morning, Kelsi had sent all her gifts extra early.

In the gift there was a small card that said Happy Christmas! <3
She had sent her a small swirly shell that was painted light blue and a darkish glittery brown. She also sent her a small rounded set of eyeshadow formed in a rainbow ranging of a pale silvery blue into a dark, glittery blue.

"Awww, Kelsi, thank you!"

Serenity froze, dropping the eyeshadow.
"Where did I stash their presents?!"

Serenity had a combination lock on her trunk, and was struggling to get it open. She had forgotten the code, you see.

Selia hung upside down from the couch. Her mum was safely locked in the attic, and things were normal again.

About three hours, Rachel, who was almost always punctual or a bit earlier than usual was knocking on those huge doors of Serenity's mom's house.

She had put her hair up in a fancy styled bun only without the chopstick through it, with a beautiful blue ballgown, and a matching mask, except she wasn't wearing it over her eyes yet. It was up on her forehead.

"I hope Serenity approves of this," she mumbled.

Serenity opened the doors. Behind her were double staircases, (they're on the second floor) and a huge ballroom. Apparently she demolished half her house to make this. "Rachel!" She exclaimed, hugging her friend. She herself had hair up in an intricate braided thing, a long white and gold dress, playing off the colors of the room, and the centerpiece of her outfit, making up for the simplicity of her dress, was an almost antique mask, with long gold and white feathers coming off one side, attatched to her face firmly. Her dark-shades of makeup showed only through the eyepieces in the mask. "You look amazing! Long sleeves in summer, though? But it really is a beautiful dress."


Oh yeah, the ballroom.

Rachel laughed. "You look great too! Your mask is beautiful! And, well, the material is pretty floaty, see?" said Rachel stroking it slightly. "It was also the only thing my mum had,"

"Oh do come in! Please do! You'll love it, it's huge, and the stairs go down, and it's just like from Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty!"

"Hmm, I've heard of Cinderella, but never Sleeping Beauty. Are they muggle fairy tales?" She turned to look down at her dress again. "I was hoping my mum would have a yellow one! But, she didn't. Guess yellow was never her color or something."

"If you like, I have plenty of spares." Serenity spun out a whole rack of dresses in varying colors. "But, is Nicholas coming? Did you ask him? No matter, come in and see the hall before it gets crowded."
She led the way inside, on the top floor, windows streaming in moonlight into the dark room.
"This is the top balconies, you can see everything from here. Down there's the mezzanine, where the band's getting ready now." Indeed, candles were being lit among the orchestra, and some faint instrumental sounds were heard.
"And here, are the lights!" Serenity said loudly, flipping on the lights, sending the entire room into sparkling brightness. The chandeliers reflected their light everywhere, the entire ballroom looking imperious and beautiful. "Tadaaa!"

"Oh... I didn't know if I could invite him or not. You didn't say I could on my invitation. And, I don't think I'd fit into any of your dresses. You're a bit taller than me." Rachel smiled and began to twirl around in the candlelight. "I've never been to a big fancy dress up party like this! My parents said I'd cause to much trouble at one though. I wonder why?"

"You'll be wonderful, I'm sure. It's like the yule ball.. With masks! Of course, everyone knows it's me, I'm the only blonde, but.... Still, it'll be great. You could dance with Angel! We broke up, you know." Serenity went over to the railing, looking down at the caterers, orchestra, and the tables scattered underneath the other side, (There's tables underneath the balconies, out of the way of the dancing) smiling. Everything looked perfect.

"Well, I'm the only redhead! Except Libby, but she's been doing such whacky stuff with her hair for the longest time."

A few minutes later, Max entered, wearing regular clothes. He was a teenage boy after all. It's not like he had anything like that hanging up inside his closest, right?

Rachel, noticing him, ran over excitedly.

"Hi Max!"

"Oh crap it's you-I mean, hi Rachel."

"So, have you and Libby resumed making out?" said Rachel, being the big gossip she was, immediately bounced on the subject.

"Who told you that?"

"Why, Lavender Brown! She's in your house, right?"

"...No, we're not, either way. Isn't that what you and Nicolas do?"

"...Shuddup...." and she walked back towards Serenity.

"Thank God..." thought Max. He was happy that that comment was able to put Rachel in her place.

"MAX!" Serenity screamed, going over to him, holding a garment bag. "Go put this on, please. You'll look gorgeous! Libby will LOVE it! I made sure to get your size, so it should fit perfectly, and-" Serenity handed him a box. "Shoes and mask."
The costume for all the boys was essentially the same, which Serenity thought was a wonderful touch, because the only difference was their mask. Max's was, obviously, the joker.
