Small Home in Japanese Seclusion

Jake smiled. "Really?! I'm so glad you like it!" He turned around. "If anything, I'll be in the kitchen. My family turns out to be arriving TONIGHT!" He punched the air happily and walked down the hall.

Selia felt gross after the plane ride, so she went and took a shower. After the shower, she put on some clothes, a green shirt and jeans, didn't bother drying her hair, and went into the kitchen. "Jaaaake?" She asked, looking around.

Jake was in here, talking with his little sister. She was adorable. Short spiky black hair with a bit pulled into a ponytail on top of her head, and she looked just like Jake but with rounder cheeks. And a bit chubbier. "Hey, Selia!" Jake walked over to her. "Hey, come! I want to show you the backyard."

"Aww, your little sister is so cute.. Oh, alright, let me grab my jacket." And she grabbed it, then went outside with him.

The two were outside. It was still sunny, but red light from the sun broke through the dark greens and tall beautiful trees. "Sel, are you going to be disappointed to head back to school?"

Selia looked at the trees for a moment before answering. "Yes. I just can't imagine going back to the horrors of having Death Eaters as teachers, and strictness, and punishments. I mean, after the freedom of being away from it all. I don't understand... how anyone can allow them to do any of the things they're doing."

Jake nodded sadly. Then, he grinned. "Hey, it'll all end one day! I know it."

"Let's just stop talking about it! It'll be more fun. So, do you know what's for dinner?"

"Soup. And... fried chicken. I don't know, my grandpa loves it."

Selia's eyes got huge. "I love fried chicken! It's my favorite. Anyways.. Your little sister. She's adorable. Can I keep her?"

Jake laughed. "Sel, she's not a pet!! She'd probably start screaming if she heard you say that! But I'm sure she'd like to talk with a girl who's older."

"You know, I'd love to talk to her. Maybe after supper. Jake, what are you most afraid of? I want to know."

Jake shrugged. "Planes?" he said in a questioning tone.

"No, you weren't that scared of them. Tell the truth."

"I don't know." he muttered.

"Oh, alright. I'd tell you mine, but then I'd have to kill you." Selia said seriously.

Jake laughed. "Well, it turns out I'd die to find out your worst fear. So I don't mind."

"Hm, maybe I should tell you. It's getting cheated on. It scares me so much. And, this is going to sound stupid... I have horrible nightmares about demons, and when I wake up, I can feel them on my chest, weighing me down, and I can't scream, and I can't move, and it's so scary."

"That's horrible. Hey, I know my fear now! It's falling. Mentally. Mentally falling."

"That'll never happen, though," Selia said confidently.

"If your heart is broken, yes, it'll happen. But truly, genuinely broken."

"Well then, don't go breaking your heart." Selia joked.

"Yeah! That's true! Sel, tomorrow we're going to have so much fun!"

"Oh, tomorrow's Christmas here, isn't it? I forgot about the time change!" Selia said, and quickly grew excited. "This is going to be great. Oh, I forgot to wrap your present! After dinner. Wanna go inside and eat, then?"

"Yeah. Dinner should soon be ready."
