Amanda's New Apartment

"Oh." She paused. "What a dumbass! It's not like he'll do it again!"

"Uhm...what?" Amanda felt extremely awkward. She never really had a real mother, so how would she know if a normal one would call their kid that or not.

Wallace's mother happened to justify her language by her youthful appearance (and her outward mentality to match). "He's so stupid sometimes!"

Amanda got a small smile on her face. "Yeah..."

"Personally, I think you should go right over there. Then he won't have the opportunity to ignore the letter, right? Ahaha, that's how I hooked his father," she reminisced.

"I was thinking of doing that, actually. I'd just have to find his dorm, right?"

"I think it was on the third floor? In... the reddish building! With the big clock!" She held her arms out to the sides, indicating the clock's size.

So he got his enthusiasm from his mom, and maybe his dramatic side form his father? Eh.. "Thanks so much Mrs. Vainglory! Do you have any messages for him?"

"Like what?" She folded her arms behind her back.

"Well, I don't know, maybe, 'Hey son!' or something like that?"

"Oh! You mean from me!" Her lower lip pushed on the upper as she thought for a moment. "Tell him... not to let this one go again! And smack him on the head!"

"Well, alright..." I'll smack him on the head depending on the reaction of when he sees me. "Thanks again. I guess I'll get going now?"

"Nice meeting you, finally! I remember he used to talk about you all the time! Amanda this, Amanda that... Ahaha, kids!"

Amanda blushed. "He-he talked about me?"

"Uhh, YES! Anyway, I have... things to do, so... Bye!" She gave a cheerful wave before disappearing.

Amanda slipped out of her messy, wrinkled clothes, and into a pair of denim shorts, green tennis shoes, and a navy colored t-shirt. Amanda stared at herself in her mirror. "I'm... wantable looking." She tugged at her t-shirt, making sure everything was perfect. With one last glance in the mirror, she apparated.

Hey, girly! How are you doing? How's school going, all that.

I'm just going to cut to the chase here. I've hit hard times recently and I sort of got removed from my apartment. I leave for sure tomorrow, and I was wondering if maybe I could mooch off you for a little while longer until I get back on my feet? Thanks. I love you, so much, and always remember God has a plan for your life or some shit like that! ☺

I'd love to help, I really would, but here's the thing. I am not going to be alive forever, for all we know I could be dead in a week. I can't be your back-up plan, you need to be your own. Olivia, I am truly sorry... Please, don't be mad. But if you need a job or something, I can hook you up. That's as much as I'll do. Also, I advise getting the hell out of Amsterdam and back here.

Amanda sent the letter with her new owl, a little, snow white one with gray little specks. She had regretted sending the letter as she watched owl leave the room in a chaotic flapping of its wings. She did love her friend, but really, she needed to become an adult.

Amanda walked in, half dazed, with a large smile on her face. In the past twenty-four hours, she felt like she was punched in the face with almost all of her long-term goals accomplished. She had finished college with her degree in English and Literature, and an hour before she was supposed to arrive for the ceremonies, her friend Dede almost knocked down her dorm door with the letter from her mother about the status of Amanda's book. They had used a butter knife to open it, not wanting to ruin any part of it. The bold words "Accepted & Sent" had been enough to send Amanda and Dede's ages spiraling down from mature college graduates to three year olds who just got a pound of candy. Dede told her in a shaking voice that her mother was going to personally come to Amanda's apartment sometime this week to discuss money matters, something that never came across Amanda's mind.

Amanda clutched a cat carrier in one hand, and a diploma and plaque in the other. Her right should was sagging due to the weight of her backpack that she had charmed to hold six times more than it should. She still had to track down some sort of lightener in her pocket spell book.

As Amanda plopped herself down onto the couch, still in dreamland, she was rudely awaken from the sharp cat meow coming from her side. With a tinge of guilt, Amanda released Pinkie from the cat carrier. Pinkie never, ever liked the rides to Hogwarts, and those were not nearly as bad as apparating to Pinkie. On the walk up to her apartment, Amanda had some mercy because Pinkie was napping, as she always did after an apparation, but now she was wide awake, and she lurked off preparing her claws for torturing Amanda that night, or at least, keeping her away until one in the morning.

And then the doorbell rang.

Amanda walked to the door, still in her dream-land phase, and opened the door. "Hello?~"

"Honey, I'm home!" Olivia pushed right past her into the small apartment. "Smells like cat turd in here!"

Amanda closed the door behind her, and gave Olivia one of those friendly hugs. "Olivia! I'm an adult now!"

"Ehh, what defines it. Oh my god, did you get taller?" she exclaimed, turning around.

"Nah, you just got shorter."
