Amanda's New Apartment

"I'd slap you if I could reach." Olivia headed for the kitchen, as was her habit upon entering a friend's house.

Amanda grinned, following Olivia like she was the guest. "Can I get you anything?"

"Got any vodka?" Olivia had begun searching though the various cupboards and whatnot.

Amanda grabbed her wrist, stopping her from opening more cupboards. "Are you drunk?"

"No, I just haven't had ANYTHING in like two weeks now!" Olivia gripped Amanda by the shoulders - quite a feat. "TWO WEEKS!"

"Good! Liv, I'll give you water, that's it. Also, guess who's book just got published!"

Olivia gazed up at Amanda with a melodramatic pout. "Water?"

"Yes. Water. I am not sending you back to-- wherever you live--- drunk!"

"Wherever I live." Like hell she'd tell anyone. How undignified. "Anyway, what now about books?"

"My book. It got published."

"Seriously?!" She kept that hold on Amanda's shoulders.

Amanda nodded eagerly. "The woman who is publishing it is coming here to talk about it soon!"

"What was it about?"

"Everything you'd ever need to know about magical creatures. 580 pages."

Liv released her. "Oh, how dreary."

"And then I recorded all the myths about them..."

"I've never liked creatures. Oh well, whatever flies your broom. Now, about those drinks..."

"Olivia!" Amanda stared her in the eye, then sighed. "One cup of wine to celebrate. That's it."

"Oh, forget it." She crossed her arms and leaned on the side of the counter. "So how's life? You've graduated, I take it?"

"Yeah, just last night actually. I got home about..." Amanda glanced at the clock on the microwave. "About an hour ago."

She reflexively glanced up at the clock at the mention of the time. "Oh, really? What about... other things?"

"Well, Wallace told me he hates me and never wants to deal with me again. That was a... a..." Amanda trailed off, looking through Olivia like she wasn't there.

About time, she thought.

"What a prick."

"Damn right he was!" Being the hypocrite Amanda was, she added on, "He was always so melodramatic!"
