Defense Against the Dark Arts

Amanda stared innocently at Umbridge. "Yes. I can see it now. Poor girl has to be tortured for talking to her friend because having no one on Christmas, and get's expelled for not wanting to be tortured. Think the Profit will like it?"

"You defied me. And, it's up to me how I hand out my detentions. You better be careful Potter," she smiled evilly. "After all, I work for the Ministry. And, you can get into a lot of trouble,"

Amanda suddenly snapped back to normal. "Yes ma'am. I am terribly sorry for insulting you as I did. I will start the punish as you would normally proceed it. Agian, I am sorry and know you have a right to give me more detention." With a blank look in her face, Amanda grabbed Umbridge's real quill and started HER lines.

What was I thinking?! Saying all those things! I'm so stupid! All the house points I could loose now... I shouldn't have been talking to Liv like that but still! What's gotten into me?

"You'll be given another week's detention for your arrogance and rudeness. And, I shall be taking 50 points from Hufflepuff, and I MAY inform the Headmaster if your behavior doesn't improve."

Amanda silently nodded and continued the lines, biting on her lip so she didn't scream in pain.

"That's better..." said Professor Umbridge, pouring some milk in a cup of tea.

Amanda bit her lip in pain, her eyes watering, "May I stop now please?" The message was clearly written on Amanda's hand, and was bleeding.

"Alright," said Professor Umbridge softly, giving her hand an approving nod. "But, I'll expect that I see you tomorrow though. I'm not letting you off easy."

"Yes Ma'am. I repeat- sorry for being such a b-b-" Amanda closed her eyes tightly as if it helped hear was she was about to say. "Brat." Amanda grabbed her own quill and bag and ran, her eyes watering.

Serenity ran into the classroom, noting she was half a minute early- good. "Hi, Professor. Sorry I'm almost late."

Professor Umbridge looked up from her book, which was all pink and lacy and had a picture of a cat on it.

Apparently it was some cat catalogue. Or whatever.

She smiled that wide, toady smile and motioned for the seat with her huge sausage-y fingers.
"I thought you might have forgotten, dear," she said. With her other hand, she placed them over the assortment of quills and pulled a blank sheet of paper out for Serenity.

"When the clock strikes two past, begin."

"Oh, you like cats?" Serenity smiled weakly, trying to make conversation in the next two minutes.

She flashed a smile at Serenity.
"Yes, I do. Now... you have forty five more seconds. Better get ready."

Serenity sighed and, forty seconds later, started writing.

Umbridge smiled. She continued to read her article.

Serenity frowned.

An hour and a half later, she bit her lip. "Professor? May I finish?"

"This is your final session, am I right?"

"Yes Ma'am."

"Then be patient, and I'm sure you don't want another day."

"Yes ma'am..." Serenity looked down, continuing her writing.

She began to play around with her rings.

Robin entered and settled down at a desk.

Robin was wondering where everyone went.
