Potions Class

"Digusting." Amanda mumbled as she brushed her uniform off as she got up from her seat. Pulling on her gloves, Amanda walked over to get the ingrediants. Using her elbows to clear a trail though the crowd, she was able to get the ingrediants. Then she held them all in her left arm, cradling the glass bottles, and walked back to her seat to start.

Rachel glanced at the directions, got up from her seat and got the ingredients, and pulled on her protective gloves. She than got a better look at the directions, written in Snape's craby handwriting, written rather close together.


Plant Growing Potion.

1. Boil the water at 300 degrees.
2. Slice 40 pieces of grass blades in equal pieces. Add them in.
3. Slice 20 dandelion stems in equal pieces.
4. Mix what you have so far counter clock wise for five minutes. It should be a bright green color.
5. Grind up the dragon dung using the morter and pedal. When it is finely ground up add it in.
6. Grind up the dung of a Hippogriff. Add it in when it's finely ground. Add it in
7. Add in three cups of dragon blood.
8. Stew for twenty minutes. When it is done stewing, it should be a greenish brown color.
9. Add in a rat's tail.
10. Add in five catpillars of a monarch butterfly.
11. 20 finely ground spider legs.
12. Slice in equal pieces 30 maple leaves.
13. Slice in equal pieces 20 oak tree leaves.
14. Stir clockwise for eight minutes, adding a counterclock wise stir every fifth stir.
15. Stew for ten minutes. When it is finished, the color should be more green than brown.

Rachel stared blankly at the board for about three minutes or so, before remembering that she was in Potions class, and she should begin working. So, she started boiling some water.

Except, it was about 250 degrees instead of the called 300 degrees.

Amanda began heating the water at 300 degrees. Grabbing a knife, she began slicing the grass blades.

Olivia wondered why there was so much dung in the recipe. Wouldn't the content be affected by whatever the creature had eaten? She started boiling the water and put on her gloves. Then, she started slicing the blades of grass.

"You know," said Rachel to Amanda softly as she was slicing up the grass blades, in rather uneven pieces. "I wonder why animal dung makes plants grow? I've always wondered that?"

"Some nutrions in 'um." Amanda whispered back. Narrowing her eyes, she made a thin mark with her quill for where she'd chop the grass blades. Lining about twenty grass blades, Amanda started up wit her slicing again.

"In a pile of crap?" said Rachel, not really counting the blades she was slicing.

On the other hand, Pansy was right next to Olivia, talking about Draco. "...And so over the summer, me and Draco were at Knockturn Alley together! It was SOOO romantic!"

[IRLizabeth: *shoots Pansy*]

"Yes Ray." Amanda smiled at her neat little pile and threw the pieces of grass in. Then she started with the stems, making sure they were even and what not.

"That's weird." And she finished chopping up her grass blades, and she carelessly threw them in her cauldron, and started on the roots. "Geez, I don't really understand the point of making this potion. None of us here are really gardeners, right? Except maybe Libby since she likes Herbology. And Neville. But he doesn't like Potions."

"Stay at home mom's would need this."

"Are you two, like, official now?" She tilted the cutting board over the cauldron. The blades of grass fell in. Then, she started cutting the dandelion stems.

"I guess, but I have no intention of being a stay at home. I'd rather work at the Ministry of Magic coffee shop."

"Yep!" she squealed excitedly, her hand shaking so much, that the knife would have been rather dangerous if anyone got to close. "It's SOOO nice to be with him!"

Amanda nodded as she started on stirring.

"Congrats." She kept slicing the dandelion stems.

"Anyway, have you figured out what you wanna be yet? They start talking about your careers this year, you know," she as she threw the stems in there, and started stirring way too fast.

"THANK YOU!" she yelled happily, and of course, Professor Snape made no notice.

Nicolas arrived in the doorway of the classroom. He was a bit out of breath, and his clothes were somewhat messy, as if he had rushed to get here - which he had, since none of the other Hufflepuffs had bothered to wake him. Not that Nicolas really wanted to wake up... nice dream, it was. "Sorry I'm late, Professor," he told Professor Snape, glancing at the board and going to get the ingredients from the cupboards and sitting down at his desk.

"You don't have to yell, you know! ^^U" She dumped the stems into the cauldron and started stirring counter-clockwise.

"Detention then, Mr. Sawyer," said Professor Snape, barely glancing at him. "And ten points form Hufflepuff for your tardiness. Go sit down, and get too work. The directions are still on the board.)

(Translation: Sit down, you 'tard.)

Amanda mumbled something glady, seeing as her potion was birght green. Grumbling, she began grinding the dragon dung.

"But Olivia!" said Pansy swirling around the potion, her hand still shaking, so drops of the potion were splashing everywhere. "Dracey-kins is my true love! I have a right to yell!"

[IRLizabeth: *shoots Pansy again*]

Nicolas, not wanting to get any more house points from Hufflepuff, sat down and got to work.

Rachel stopped swirling. Humming a little, she was sure that the potion was going to be the bright green color that Professor Snape asked for. I mean, she was doing everything right so far. So, she took a peak and...

It was a dark, almost black green color.


"Grrr..."

Wincing at the dragon dung, Amanda carefully tossed it in and began on the Hippogriff dung.
